Call an emergency plumber for a burst pipe, sewage backing up into your home, a leak you cannot stop with a valve, water reaching outlets or light fixtures, or a water heater leaking from the tank. These problems can damage your home or create safety risks within hours, sometimes minutes.
When Water Will Not Stop
If closing the valve under the sink or behind the toilet does nothing, close the main. If water keeps flowing after that, or the source is inside a wall or ceiling, you need help fast. Every minute adds to the water soaking into floors and walls.
When Sewage Comes Up
Wastewater rising through a tub, toilet, or floor drain is a health hazard. Stop using all water and keep everyone away from it. If you share a building, let the super know so other units can stop using water as well.
When Electricity Is Involved
Water dripping onto light fixtures or pooling near the breaker panel is dangerous. Stay out of the area unless you can turn off the power from a dry spot. This is one of the clearest reasons to call immediately.
When the Water Heater Fails Badly
A tank leaking from the bottom, a relief valve that keeps discharging, or scorch marks near the burner need prompt attention. If you smell gas, leave first and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
By contrast, a slow drain, a dripping faucet, or a toilet that runs now and then can usually be scheduled for a normal visit on a day that works for you.
In a true emergency, having a plumber come out without delay can limit the damage. For routine repairs, book a non-emergency appointment at a time that works for you. Until then, keep an eye on the problem. Call JPR Plumbing at (833) 603-1840.
